A few miles down the road is the beautiful seaside resort of Altea with its historic old town clustered around the whitewashed dome. The coast south of Calpe, where Altea is located, has a microclimate which causes the winters to be considerably warmer than the north of Calpe. This makes the Altea area a very attractive destination for snowbirds from across Northern Europe and beyond.
